TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION
ELECTRICAL, AUTOMATION AND INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM -SPECIFICATION AND INSTALLATION GUIDELINE VS1
16.1.5 The conventional cable trays composing the instrumentation circuits may not be shared with
other cable types and the routes must be determined in order to avoid high-temperature or
risky zones
16.1.6 The network cables must be protected by metallic conduits and may be installed on the
outer sides of the instrumentation trays.
16.1.7 The temperature sensors must be directly connected to the PLC cards.
16.1.8 When specifying the instrumentation elements it must be considered that VSB may decide
to use nitrogen instead of compressed air.
16.1.9 The transmitters must preferably be installed near the impulse sockets in order to avoid
measurement retards and they should be the most possible grouped. They may not be
affected by vibrations and temperature of nearby equipment.
When necessary they must be assembled in cabinets for protection against mechanical shocks.
16.2 Pots, drain valves, isolating valves, sealing liquid, seals with diaphragms, flow switches,
pressure switches, etc. must be supplied wherever necessary.
16.3 Stainless steel pipes, in principle with diameter 16 mm shall be used for the piping of
impulse sockets. The sockets must be mounted in such a manner that is becomes possible
to pass a rod through them for cleaning and removing obstructions.
16.4 Ermeto type connections must always be used in instrumentation piping.
16.5 A minimum slope of 1/20 must be foreseen in order to avoid accumulation of impurities and
humidity in the inside of the piping.
16.6 All instrumentation elements must be provided with access facility by means of walkways or
platforms for ensuring efficient and safe maintenance.
16.7 The minimum protection class of cabinets and boxes for instruments installed externally
must be IP-54 and they must dispose of complementary cover with frontal advance for
protection against rain.
16.8 The panels for installation of instruments must be built of steel sheets at least 2.65 mm thick
for the structure and have assembly plates, doors and covers. The covers and the doors
must be provided with sealing for preventing dust entry and the hinges must be installed on
